The ISD has been supporting the Formula Student Team HorsePower Hannover in the development of electric racing cars for several years. Every year, the team develops and manufactures a formula racing car that competes in the world's largest design competition for students, the "Formula Student".
Due to its competence and experience in fibre composites, the ISD is an important partner of the HorsePower Hannover Team, as the racing car is largely made of fibre-reinforced plastics. The ISD regularly assists with the autoclaving of CFRP components. However, the ISD is not only helping in terms of production, but also provides HorsePower Hannover team with theoretical expertise on fibre composites and offers members of the team interesting jobs as scientific assistants. There are also opportunities for bachelor's, master's and student research projects in cooperation with the ISD.
